Radiology Tech License

I wanted more then just a job, I wanted a career, not only a career but one that I could be proud to say that I worked in that particular field.  That is why I decided to go to school to get a radiology tech license.  Oddly enough I got the idea when I went for my annual mamography.

Curriculum and Education

Radiology Tech License

I started talking to the tech who was doing it for me and she was telling me about her job and all of the different areas of study that were available.  I had always been interested in some type of continuing education and obtaining a license in a growing field seemed like a really smart thing to do.

She explained that the courses were challenging and that there were numerous classes that I would have to complete in order to obtain a state radiology tech license but that salaries for this type of work were pretty good and that I could make enough to justify the cost of the schooling.

I learned that there are two-year hospital based certificate programs that offer an associates degree and there are four-year programs that are available at several different colleges and universities.  I have a college degree so I decided to look into the two-year hospital based program.

I read that the program is quite challenging but from talking to other students I found that most of them find it to be very interesting and rewarding.  Obtaining a radiology tech license is not supposed to be easy.  this job is important regardless of whether you specialize in mamography, computed tomography (CT), or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), for example.  Meeting the requirements of the program meant that I was going to have to be disciplined and ready, willing, and able to buckle down and study.

Pay Scale

After I finish school and get my radiology tech license I can expect to make some decent money according to all the salary data that I have read.  The median salary is somewhere around $58,000 for a radiology tech.  The lowest 5% earn somewhere around $30,000 and thehighest paid are closer to $90,000 approx.  Depending on what you read theose numbers change a bit but in general this is a pretty good job and a great choice for a career.  I want to wark with people and I want to have an important job and I feel like becoming a radiology tech is a good choice for me.
